Curatorial Rationale
For this exhibit, I decided to focus on nature, with a spotlight on florals. I wanted to try and capture the elegance of nature and how it can be mesmerizing. I have always loved to focus on nature in my art whether it be through doing Impressionistic paintings or making a sculpture out of anything I could get my hands on. I have been exploring different mediums this year. I wanted to encapture my art in ways I haven’t done before. I have never been one to plan ahead when it comes to my art. I always dive right into what I hope will turn out to be what I imagined and if it doesn’t work out, then I have created something new. I don’t like to think that I make mistakes in my art because to me, there will always be a way to make something that I am proud of.
This year I specifically stuck to experimenting with different paints and wire. I also used wooden boards to be the base of most of my work. I think the pieces I chose to put into my exhibit fit well with my overall theme. I think the pieces all help enhance the value of nature.
I have set up my exhibit as one where the viewers are able to interact with it. Some of the pieces let the observers use their senses: touch, smell, and sight. I hope everyone enjoys their experience while interacting with my artwork because having it on display like this is new to me.
